Have you ever thought about the effect your mobile device might be having on your vision? We can’t deny that these devices are wonderful, because they let us stay connected whenever we need to be. However most people hold their handheld devices very close to their faces. Reading off handheld devices can often lead to a whole set of problems for your vision.
It’s much harder for your eyes to focus on the small images and text you see on the small screens of smartphones. Eventually, this has been found to lead to problems with focus and vision, especially if you already use vision correction, like glasses or lenses. If you already wear glasses, holding a device too close to your face will make it a real challenge for your eyes to correct for distance. When your eyes work too hard, it can lead to eyestrain or headaches.
There are other symptoms that can be caused by holding your device too close to your eyes, including dry eyes or blurry vision, because excessive screen time makes you blink less.
What can we do keep our eyes strong, while still using our phones? In order to lessen these symptoms caused by handheld devices, it’s best to set your phone to display all text in a larger font, and keep the screen further away from your eyes. And try not to use your phone for too much time at once! If it’s been a while, allow your eyes to have a rest. So be smart about the way you use your mobile devices and look after your eyes to ensure that your vision is protected.
